Media Borough

Resting just 13 miles west of Philadelphia and home to more than 5,000 residents, Media, Pennsylvania is a dynamic town filled with shops, restaurants, and multiple annual festivals. Charmingly small-town-America and impressively hip, Media is the country’s first fair trade town and the county seat of Delaware County. Currently experiencing a period of rapid growth with the development of new homes and businesses, Media, PA still remains “Everybody’s Hometown.”

  • The Challenge

For many years, the borough distributed a twice-yearly newsletter while maintaining a website, Facebook page, and Twitter feed. These tasks seem small but can sometimes be overwhelming for smaller government organizations. While local municipal information was shared in earnest, it was often difficult for residents to find and ultimately failed to reach much of its intended audience. With its current rate of growth, the Media Borough Council knew they needed to be more effective in informing their growing population.

Recognizing this need, the council contacted DandeLions Digital to help them organize a communications plan.

  • The Solution

DandeLions Digital dug right in. Initially contracted to organize a more comprehensive digital newsletter and social media plan, we noticed that the borough’s website needed some reorganization upgrades as well. We reorganized the website for improved usability and drafted the first digital newsletter, providing the borough with a modern digital presence and a more adaptable way to share information.

  • The Outcome

Since the implementation of DandeLions Digital’s upgrades, the borough has noticed an increase in user traffic to the website by 55%. The subscription rate to the digital borough newsletter has increased by over 500% and social media reach for the digital newsletter is 16,000 to 20,000 views per month.

What They're
Saying

  • With our new newsletter, we’ve gone from not meeting expectations to exceeding expectations.

I’ve had people come up to me without my prompting and offer praise about the news. It’s rare in any government for people to say nice things, so when they do it sticks with you.

    Media Borough Council President

  • We are able to put out much more information, get it out more quickly, and reach many more people.

[Dandelions Digital is] very professional and pleasant to work with. They hear what we tell them, and they understand what we want and need.
